Privacy Policy

Privacy is important and I respect yours.

For Your Protection:

Please know I’ll treat the information you provide to this website in the way it was intended (assuming you’re a real person and not a spammer).

We use SSL encryption to protect everything sent to or from my server, and I’ll use robust security software to protect the site, as well as your information. Yep, we’ll store some data, but it will only include what you give me.

There may be times when folks fiddle with the website and send spam comments. I use CleanTalk to check comments and see if they’re sent from spammers. If that turns out to be the case, they’ll toss the brute. IF they accidentally throw you out, you’re not a spammer, and you tell me about it, I can ask CleanTalk to let you back in if too much time hasn’t transpired since you were ousted.

Newsletters:

When you sign in to my website, I’ll collect your name and email address so I can send you an occasional newsletter or a notice about something I think is noteworthy. It might be a discussion on a topic I’m mired in; a new book I’ve fallen in love with; questions about books, genres, and/or authors you love; a description about a beautiful location I’ve visited. Who knows, it might be a discussion about life. My characters are always trying to figure it out, so it’s a topic I like to explore.

If you sign up for my Newsletter, CleanTalk will make sure you’re a real person and not a spammer. If you’re not real, why would you want my newsletter, after all? CleanTalk will toss “you” out. If it turns out you’re tossed and not a spammer (oops, sorry), and not more than a few days have passed since the event and you let me know about it, I’ll ask them to let you back in.

I’ll know if you open my newsletter, by the way. That helps me design my content and lets me know what you found interesting enough to open.

Comments?

I hope you will participate in the discussions that occur here or that you’ll comment on the webpage itself. When you comment, I’ll collect your name, email address, and IP address, and your comments, of course.

If you wish to have comments removed, send me a note through the contact form and I’ll remove them. (Spam comments will be removed by CleanTalk.)

Want all Your Data Removed? If you’d like all your data removed from my website, send me a note through the contact page and I’ll remove all of it from my website.

Unsubscribe:

You can always unsubscribe from the newsletter and email list. Just click unsubscribe at the bottom of the newsletter and you’ll no longer receive my emails or newsletter.

Website Activity Tracking:

My hosting company provides me with data on who accesses my site and is not traceable back to any individual. It lets me know the country of origin of visitors, what browser they use, and how long they stayed on the site. If you won’t want to be tracked, please use a private browser window. I may use the information to see what people are searching for when they visit the site. I use google analytics to see why folks visit, how they got here, and if they like the site.

Cookies:

Cookies? Yum…they help ensure the integrity of the registration process and they personalize my Site. A cookie is a small file placed on your hard disk by a web page server. It is uniquely assigned to you and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie. It helps recall your information when you revisit my site and simplifies the process of delivering content. It eases site navigation and if you return to the site, information you previously provided can be retrieved so you can use features that you customized previously.

You may accept or decline cookies. You can modify your browser settings to decline cookies if you like. If you do that, you might not be able to experience the interactive features of this or other Web sites you visit.

Updates:

I may update this privacy statement from time to time and when I do, I’ll enter the date of the update at the top of the privacy statement.
